Robert Hunter, born in 1874, is known for his timeless contributions to the theory and practice of golf course design and being the architect behind the golf courses at Pebble Beach Golf Links and Cypress Point. In 1928, Hunter commissioned the renowned Los Angeles architect, Wallace Neff, to design his home located on the 13th tee box of Pebble Beach Golf Links. Neff was known to design homes that were warm, livable, and surprisingly not meant to be impressive. The plan was for these wings to reach out in four directions off of a circular entrance hall forming four outdoor courtyards each with a different purpose whether views, service, or entrance. Another common aspect of Neffs designs in the 20s and 30s was the use of French or screen doors to create seamless indoor-outdoor living. This property is the epitome of 1920s Pebble Beach and perfectly encapsulates a moment in time.
